How to access these columns

You can turn on these columns in settings to be visible in table view. You will only be able to view calculated columns for which you have pay types configured on the band set, the right permissions to view those columns. Some columns will not populate if you don’t have market data associated with your bands (see more on Market Pricing here).

What are the columns available to you?

These following columns will only be visible in Column Settings for the specific pay types you have present in your band. Some columns will only be available if you have market data associated with your bands.

The key info you will see on default in table view and chart view is:

• The band visual with your benchmark composite and employee placement
• The number of benchmarks associated with the band

Data about the market (only available with market data)

• Number of benchmarks associated with the band (visible on default)
  • How many benchmarks were used to create the composite benchmark
• Delta from benchmark
  • The distance from the band mid to the benchmark

Data about your bands

• Band width
  • The % above and below the band mid
• Midpoint progression
  • The distance from one level’s mid to the next level’s mid
  • Note: The lowest level in the ladder will not be 0 and will not be shown in the column, given we calculate it as a direct relationship between one level and the next. If you are missing a level in your band structure (e.g. only have a L1 and L3) your midpoint progression will reflect the distance from the mid of L1 to the mid of L3, not the mid of L1 to the mid of L2.

Data about your employees (for base, total, or variable,if part of your band set):

• Average Compa Ratio
  • The average of the compa ratio, which we calculate as pay value / band mid or pay value / ((max + min) / 2), of the matching employees
• Average Range Penetration
  • The average of the range penetration, (payValue - bandMin) / (bandMax - bandMin), of the matching employees
• Number of Employees Matching Band
  • The number of employees whose HRIS values match the HRIS values of the band
• Number of Employees Below Band
  • The number of employees on the band whose pay is below the pay type minimum
• Number of Employees In Band
  • The number of employees on the band whose pay is above the pay type minimum and below the pay type maximum
• Number of Employees Above Band
  • The number of employees on the band whose pay is above the pay type maximum
• Number of Employees Out of Band
  • The number of employees on the band whose pay is below the pay type minimum or above the pay type maximum
• Total Cost of Band
  • The sum of the pay values for each of the matching employees
• Cost to Bring Employees Below Band to the Band Minimum
  • The cost to increase the pay value up to the band minimum for each of the employees below the band

How to use these columns

• You can sort your bands by these columns in Table View to identify problematic bands, such as sorting by delta from benchmark or employees out of band.

• As you make bulk edits to your bands, you’ll see these columns update and be able to view the changes to these columns by clicking “View Changes.”

• Note: If you do not initially see these calculated columns populate, click “refresh matches” in the upper right hand corner of the page.
