Configure Team View
Configure Team View
Team View gives you a consolidated view of your team's compensation, equity, and employee data in one place. You can filter, sort, search, and export employee data across configurable columns covering pay, equity, band position, demographics, and job details.
This article walks through every configuration option available in Team View Settings so you can tailor the experience for your organization.
You need the Team View settings permission to access the Settings tab. If you don't see it, ask your Pave admin to grant you settings access.
Configure general settings
General settings control what your users see when they open an employee's details. Go to Team View > Settings > General.
Employee details view
The employee details view is a drawer that opens when a user selects an employee row. It can show a compensation timeline, equity details, or both.
- Enable employee details view: turns the employee details drawer on or off. When off, selecting an employee row does nothing. This is off by default.
- Enable compensation timeline: shows a chart of the employee's compensation history inside the details drawer. Only available when the employee details view is enabled.
- Enable equity details: shows equity grant information, vesting progress, and modeled values inside the details drawer. Only available when the employee details view is enabled.
Fiscal year start date
Set the month and day your fiscal year begins (for example, April 1). This determines how compensation timeline charts align to your fiscal calendar. The default is January 1.
Configure equity settings
Equity settings control how equity values display across Team View. These settings are also on the General settings page, under the Equity section.
Display mode
Select whether to display cash value, number of units, or both across all of Team View. You can enable one or both options:
- Cash value: shows dollar values
- Number of units: shows share counts
Both are enabled by default.
Net or gross
Select the mode for displaying equity in the compensation timeline and equity details:
- Net equity: value after deducting exercise costs (default)
- Gross equity: full market value without deducting exercise costs
Currency settings
Control how currency displays for equity values:
- Allow users to toggle between local and company currency: users can switch between their local currency and company currency when viewing equity data
- Lock equity in local currency: equity always displays in each employee's local currency (default)
- Lock equity in company currency: equity always displays in your company's base currency
Calculating vested equity
Select how to calculate the value of vested equity:
- Value based on current share price: calculates vested equity using today's share price (default)
- Value at time of vest: calculates vested equity using the share price at the end of the vesting day
This setting also affects the tooltip language on vested equity columns, so users understand which calculation method is in use.
Configure columns
Columns determine what data appears in the Team View employee table. Go to Team View > Settings > Columns to manage them.
Available column groups
Team View offers over 100 predefined columns organized into these groups:
- Employee data: name, email, employee number, gender, ethnicity, date of birth
- Job data: department, title, manager, level, team, location, start date, tenure, employment type
- Current pay: base pay, variable pay, bonus, total cash, pay grade, currency, pay mix
- Equity data: current equity value, vesting summary, unvested shares, next 12 months of vesting, equity grants by type (RSUs, options)
- Band data: compensation band ranges (minimum, midpoint, maximum for base pay and total cash)
- Compensation metrics: compa-ratio, range penetration, holding power, salary impact, total cash impact
In addition to predefined columns, any custom fields mapped to job metadata in your account appear as available columns you can add. For example, if your HRIS integration maps custom fields to job metadata, those fields show up alongside the predefined options.
Add a column
- Go to Settings > Columns.
- Select Add column.
- Search or browse the available columns.
- Select the column you want to add.
- Select Save.
The new column appears at the bottom of the column list. You can reorder it after adding.
Reorder columns
Drag and drop columns in the column list to change their display order. The order you set here is the default order all users see. Select Save to apply your changes.
Delete a column
Select a column from the list to open its settings, then select Delete. The column is removed for all users.
Column filters
Some columns can be used as filters on the Employees tab. When a column has filtering enabled, users can filter the employee table by values in that column (for example, filtering by department or employment type). Filter availability is set per column and is not separately configurable by admins.
Set column visibility by role
You can control which columns different roles see by setting role-based overrides. This lets you show sensitive data (like equity or demographics) only to roles that need it, while keeping other columns visible to everyone.
How visibility works
Each column has a default visibility that you can customize per role:
- Visible to everyone: all users with Team View access see this column
- Hidden for everyone: no users see this column unless a role override grants access
- Visible only to [roles]: only users with the specified roles see this column
- Hidden only for [roles]: all users see this column except those with the specified roles
Add a role override
- Select a column from the column list to open its settings.
- Find the Overrides section.
- Select the roles you want to customize.
- Select Save.
When a user's role matches a role override, that override takes precedence over the column's default visibility. If a user's role does not match any override, the default visibility applies.
Preview what a role sees
Use the Preview button on the Columns settings page to see the table as a specific role would see it. This helps you verify that your role overrides work as intended before saving.
Permission-based column filtering
Beyond role overrides, Team View also filters columns based on the user's permissions:
- Users without the equity permission do not see equity columns, regardless of column visibility settings
- Users without the demographics permission do not see demographic columns (gender, ethnicity, date of birth)
- Users without the compensation bands permission do not see band-related columns
These permission-level filters apply on top of any role overrides you configure.
Configure the compensation timeline
The compensation timeline is a chart inside the employee details drawer that shows an employee's compensation history over time. Go to Team View > Settings > Compensation Timeline to configure it.
If the compensation timeline is disabled in General settings, this page shows an alert: "Compensation Timeline is not currently set to visible. Go to General Settings in Team to turn on Compensation Timeline."
Timeline length
Set how far back and forward the timeline extends:
Start date: choose what determines the left edge of the chart:
- Employee start date: begins at the employee's hire date
- Employee's earliest compensation date: begins at the employee's first compensation record
- Custom: begins a set number of years before the current year (you specify how many)
End date: choose what determines the right edge of the chart:
- Employee's final year of equity vesting: extends to the employee's last equity vesting date
- Custom: extends a set number of years after the current year (you specify how many)
Bonus visibility
Select whether to display payout or target values for bonus compensation:
Previous years:
- Default to payout if available, fallback to target: shows the actual bonus payout if available, otherwise shows the target (default)
- Payout: shows only actual payouts
- Target: shows only the target bonus amount
Current year: same options as previous years. Choose what makes sense for your compensation review cycle timing.
Configure equity details
Equity Details is a tab inside the employee details drawer that shows grant-level equity information. Go to Team View > Settings > Equity Details to configure it.
If Equity Details is disabled in General settings, this page shows an alert: "Equity Details is not currently set to visible. Go to General Settings in Team to turn on Equity Details."
Equity timeline length
Set the timeline range for the equity details chart, using the same start date and end date options as the Compensation Timeline (employee-based dates or custom year offsets).
Show original grant value
Toggle whether to show the Original Grant Value and Delta columns in the equity details table. When enabled, users see what each grant was worth at the time it was issued and how the value has changed since.
Equity detail columns
Configure which columns appear in the equity details table. The available columns are:
- Grant Date: when the grant was issued. Display options: date of grant and grant reason, date of grant only, or grant reason only.
- Units: number of shares in the grant (with optional strike price display)
- Vested Value: current value of vested shares. Display options: value and units, value only, or units only.
- Unvested Value: current value of unvested shares. Same display options as Vested Value.
- Vesting Progress: percentage of the grant that has vested
- Original Grant Value: value at the time of grant (requires the toggle above)
- Modeled Value: projected value based on modeled share price
- Delta: change in value since the grant date. Display options: delta value and delta share price, delta value only, or delta share price only. Requires the toggle above.
Each equity detail column supports its own role overrides, so you can control which roles see specific equity information.
Export data
Users can export the employee table to a CSV file from the Employees tab. The export includes all columns visible to the user and respects any active filters, search terms, and sort order.
Exports run in the background. When the file is ready, the user receives an email notification with a download link.
Troubleshooting
Why are band columns empty for my employees?
Band data appears in Team View only when you have published compensation bands in Market Pricing and the user viewing the data has the compensation bands permission. If either is missing, band columns show no data.
Why are some employees missing from Team View?
Team View displays employees synced from your HRIS integration. If an employee is missing, check that their record exists in your HRIS and that the most recent sync completed. Additionally, some users may have scoped access that limits which employees they can see (for example, direct reports only).
How does "next 12 months of vesting" calculate?
This column shows the total number of shares or value scheduled to vest in the 12-month period starting from today. It is based on the vesting schedules attached to the employee's equity grants.
How do I add a custom column?
Any custom fields mapped to job metadata in your account appear as available columns. Go to Settings > Columns, select Add column, and search for the field name. These fields are listed alongside the predefined columns.
Can different roles see different columns?
Yes. Use role overrides on individual columns to control visibility per role. You can also use the Preview button to verify what each role sees. In addition, Team View permission settings control access to equity, demographics, and band data at a broader level.
What permissions control access to Team View?
Access to Team View is controlled by several permissions:
- Team View access: enables the Team View navigation item
- Employee access: controls which employees the user can see (all employees, direct reports only, or a custom set)
- Equity access: controls whether equity columns and data are visible
- Demographics access: controls whether demographic columns are visible
- Compensation bands access: controls whether band-related columns are visible
- Settings access: controls whether the user can modify Team View configuration
