# Connect ADP

ADP is an HRIS integration that syncs employee, job, and compensation data to Pave. There are two ways to connect ADP, depending on your setup.

* **Automated report delivery (SFTP)**: ADP sends reports to Pave automatically on a recurring schedule. This method supports compensation history and variable compensation. Setup requires coordination with ADP and takes 4 to 12 weeks.
* **Manual CSV upload (market data-only customers)**: You export a report from ADP Workforce Now and upload it to Pave. This is faster to set up but requires you to re-upload the report every three months to maintain market data access.

## Before you connect

### Automated report delivery (SFTP)

* You need to initiate a request with ADP Automated Export Services (AES) to set up report forwarding.
* You will create four custom reports in ADP using the report specifications Pave provides:
  * `Pave_Report_1_Employee.csv`
  * `Pave_Report_2_Salary.csv`
  * `Pave_Report_3_Variable.csv`
  * `Pave_Report_4_Benefit.csv` (optional)
* Pave provides SFTP connection details for ADP to deliver reports to. Your Pave team will assist with this during setup.

### Manual CSV upload

* You need ADP admin access to **Reports & Analytics** in ADP Workforce Now.

## Connect ADP to Pave

### Automated report delivery (SFTP)

This method requires coordination between you, ADP, and Pave. The process typically takes 4 to 12 weeks.

1. Contact your Pave team to begin the ADP SFTP setup process. Pave will provide SFTP connection details and report specifications.
2. Initiate a request with ADP AES to set up automatic report forwarding.
3. Using the report specifications Pave provides, create the required reports in ADP.
4. After ADP processes your request, they share a statement of work (SOW) and a template with SFTP configuration details. Pave will help you fill out the SOW.
5. Once ADP completes the setup, reports are delivered automatically to Pave. Go to **Connections** in Pave and verify the ADP integration shows as **In sync**.

### Manual CSV upload

1. In ADP Workforce Now, go to **Reports & Analytics**.
2. Select **All Standard Reports**.
3. Click **Custom** to create a new report.
4. Give the report a name that includes "Pave" (for example, "Pave Custom Report").
5. Click **Select Fields** and add the following fields:
   * Associate ID
   * Work Email
   * First Name, Last Name
   * Hire Date, Termination Date
   * Worker Category Description
   * Job Title Description, Home Department Description, Job Level
   * Primary Address: City, State/Territory Code, Country
   * Reports to Email, Reports to Name, Reports To Associate ID
   * Regular Pay Effective Date, Annual Salary, Currency
   * Compensation Change Reason Description
   * Regular Pay Rate Description, Regular Pay Rate Amount
   * Variable Compensation: Planned Target Amount, Planned Target % Of Base, Currency, From Date, To Date (variable compensation fields may be omitted if not available in your ADP instance)
6. Save the report and export it as a CSV file.
7. In Pave, go to **Connections** and find ADP.
8. Click **Get started** and upload your CSV file.
9. Go to **Connections** and verify the ADP integration shows as **In sync**.

This report needs to be re-uploaded every three months to maintain market data access.

## Troubleshooting

**SFTP reports are not syncing** Confirm with your Pave team that the SFTP setup with ADP is complete. Reports may take time to begin flowing after ADP finalizes the configuration.

**CSV upload fails** Check that your CSV includes a work email column. Pave uses work email to match records across the report. Also confirm the file is in CSV format, not Excel.

**Data is missing or incomplete** For SFTP connections, check that all required report files are being delivered. The employee, salary, and variable reports are required. The benefit report is optional. For CSV uploads, check that all required fields are included in the report.

**Compensation history is not showing** Compensation history is only available with the automated report delivery (SFTP) method. The manual CSV upload captures a single point-in-time salary snapshot.

## Fields that sync

Custom mappings may apply to your account.

**Both methods:**

* First name, last name, preferred name (SFTP only)
* Work email
* Job title, department, level
* Employment type
* Manager name, manager email
* Hire date, termination date
* Work location (city, state, country, zip)
* Base pay, currency

**Automated report delivery (SFTP) only:**

* Gender, ethnicity
* Compensation history (multiple salary records with effective dates and change reasons)
* Variable compensation (commission, bonus, annual bonus with target amounts and percentages)

**Manual CSV upload only:**

* Target variable compensation (planned target amount or percentage of base)

### Additional data

* **Compensation history**: Supported with automated report delivery (SFTP). Not supported with manual CSV upload.
* **Custom fields**: Supported. Contact your Pave team to configure custom field mappings.
* **Benefits**: Supported with automated report delivery (SFTP). Not supported with manual CSV upload.
