# Connect CharlieHR

CharlieHR is an HRIS integration that syncs employee, job, and compensation data to Pave using an API key.

## Before you connect

* You must be a **CharlieHR administrator** or **super administrator** to generate API keys.
* You will need your CharlieHR **Client ID** and **Client Secret**, which you create in CharlieHR settings.

## Connect CharlieHR to Pave


1. In CharlieHR, log in as an administrator or super administrator.
2. Navigate to **Company > Settings > Integrations**.
3. Under the **API Access** section, select **Generate Keys**.
4. Copy the **Client ID** and **Client Secret**. If you have already generated keys, you can also use existing keys.
5. In Pave, go to **Connections** and find CharlieHR.
6. Paste the **Client ID** and **Client Secret** into the fields provided.
7. Click **Submit**.
8. Go to **Connections** and verify the CharlieHR integration shows as **In sync**.

## Troubleshooting

**Connection shows an error after submitting** Make sure both the Client ID and Client Secret are entered correctly. If either value is missing or incorrect, the connection will fail. You can regenerate keys in CharlieHR under Company > Settings > Integrations > API Access.

**Data is missing or incomplete** Check that the employees you expect to see are active in CharlieHR. Pave only syncs employees who have work email addresses. If compensation data is missing, confirm that salary records exist for those employees in CharlieHR.

## Fields that sync

Custom mappings may apply to your account.

* First name, last name
* Work email
* Gender, date of birth
* Job title, department
* Employment type
* Manager name, manager email
* Start date, termination date
* Location (city, country, zip code, address)
* Base pay, currency, pay frequency

### Additional data

* **Compensation history**: Supported. Pave syncs current and historical base pay records.
* **Custom fields**: Not supported.
* **Benefits**: Not supported via this integration. You can manually upload benefits data to Pave.
