# Connect Personio

Personio is an HRIS integration that syncs employee, job, and compensation data to Pave using API credentials.

## Before you connect

* You need admin access to Personio (or access to **Settings > Integrations**).
* You will generate API credentials in Personio specifically for Pave.

## Connect Personio to Pave


1. In Personio, go to **Settings**. Under the **Integrations** subheading, click **API credentials**.
2. Click **Generate new credentials**.
3. Enter the following:
   * Name: **Pave**
   * Integration: **Pave**
4. Click **Generate new credential**. Copy the **Client ID** and **Client Secret**.
5. In Pave, go to **Connections** and find Personio.
6. Enter your **Client ID** and **Client Secret**.
7. Click **Submit**. Pave runs a verification sync to confirm the connection is working.
8. Go to **Connections** and verify the Personio integration shows as **In sync**.

## Troubleshooting

**Connection fails on submit** Check that you copied the Client ID and Client Secret correctly, without extra spaces. If the credentials were generated a while ago, they may have expired. Generate a new set in Personio.

**No data appears after connecting** Personio may take a few minutes to return data after the connection is established. If data still does not appear, try disconnecting and reconnecting the integration.

**Missing country data** Personio does not require a country field on employee profiles. Pave derives the country from the employee's holiday calendar when no country is set directly. If an employee has no holiday calendar assigned, their country may be blank.

**Data is missing or incomplete** Pave excludes inactive employees from the sync. If specific employees are missing, check their status in Personio.

## Fields that sync

Custom mappings may apply to your account.

* First name, last name
* Work email
* Gender
* Job title, department
* Employment type
* Manager
* Hire date, termination date
* Work location (state, country derived from holiday calendar)
* Base pay, currency
* Weekly working hours

Pave calculates annual base pay from the salary data Personio provides. For hourly employees, Pave annualizes pay using the employee's weekly working hours.

### Additional data

* **Compensation history**: Not supported. Pave syncs current base pay only.
* **Custom fields**: Supported. Pave can sync custom fields from Personio using the Custom Reports API. Contact your Pave team to configure custom field mappings.
* **Benefits**: Not supported.
