Create and manage Market Data reports
Reports let you export Market Data benchmarks to Excel for offline analysis, sharing with stakeholders, or building custom compensation models. You can configure exactly which roles, filters, compensation types, and percentiles to include, then download the report as an .xlsx file.
Reports are available to Market Data Pro customers.
Create a report
You can start a new report from the Market Data landing page or from the benchmark explorer. Report creation follows two steps.
Step 1: Configure the report
Select the data you want to include:
Job families and levels: Choose the job families and levels to include in the report. You must select at least one of each.
Market filters: Narrow the benchmark population using any combination of:
- Location (required)
- Company stage (capital raised, valuation, headcount, revenue)
- Company ownership
- Industry
- Founder status (available for C-level benchmarks only)
- Variable pay status
- Peer Group
For details on how each filter works, see Filter Market Data benchmarks.
Compensation types: Select the cash and equity compensation types to include. Options include base salary, annual bonus (%), target variable pay, target total cash, new hire equity, ongoing equity, and unvested equity. For equity types, you can also configure the view (gross, net, 409A, equity ownership %), timeframe (total or annualized), and grant value (original or current).
Percentiles: Choose which percentiles to include in the report. Available options are 25th, 40th, 50th, 60th, 75th, and 90th. You must select at least one.
Currency: Select the currency for compensation values.
Report name: Enter a name for the report.
A row count estimate appears as you configure the report. If your selections exceed the row limit, adjust your filters to reduce the scope before running the report.
Step 2: Run the report
Click Run report to generate the report. Reports are generated asynchronously and Pave emails you when the report is ready to download, typically within 10 minutes.
What the report contains
Each report is an Excel workbook with the following sheets:
Report summary: Lists the filters, compensation types, and settings you selected when creating the report. Use this sheet to see exactly what data the report covers.
Compensation data: The main data table. Each row represents a unique combination of job family, level, location, and company stage. For each compensation type you selected, the report includes:
- Data method (raw or calculated)
- Consistency Label
- Sample size (employee count)
- Company count
- Confidence interval (margin of error)
- Percentile values for each percentile you selected
Manage saved reports
All reports you create are saved and accessible from the Market Data landing page and the dedicated reports page.
Download: Click Run report on any saved report to download it with the latest benchmark data.
View details: Click on a report to see the filters and settings it was created with.
Rename: Open the overflow menu on a report and select Rename to change its name.
Delete: Open the overflow menu and select Delete to permanently remove the report.
Things to know
- Reports are personal to your account. Other users cannot see or download your reports.
- If a report includes a Peer Group that has since been archived, Pave prompts you to create a new report without that Peer Group.
