Benchmarks help you determine the competitive market pay for your jobs based on external compensation data sources. ## Process overview


1. **[Create data sources](https://support.pave.com/en-us/articles/manage-survey-data-sources-9pnOWhvG3A)** - create/upload your various compensation data providers that will be parsed for benchmarks. These can either use [Pave data](https://support.pave.com/en-us/articles/manage-pave-data-sources-gPAfXHGIiv) or [survey data](https://support.pave.com/en-us/articles/manage-survey-data-sources-9pnOWhvG3A).
2. **[Map to your jobs](https://support.pave.com/en-us/articles/map-data-sources-to-jobs-53mkuM7WUZ)** - provide the mapping of your data sources to your job architecture (family, level, pay zones) in Pave.
3. **[Set weights and logic](https://support.pave.com/en-us/articles/set-weights-and-logic-bRoIvnIfKP)** - control how mapped data sources are used to generate composite benchmarks for each job.
4. **[Review and apply benchmarks](https://support.pave.com/en-us/articles/edit-and-apply-benchmarks-zhoTB6KBum)** - review and fill gaps in the composite benchmarks for all your jobs, pay types, and pay zones.
