[Legacy] Bulk & Manually Associate Market Data to Bands
Bulk associate your bands to market data
To bulk associate your bands to market data, you can follow these steps or work with your Implementation Manager.
Complete the bulk association csv template
-
Download the bulk associations csv template by navigating to Market Pricing -> Job mapping and survey logic-> Map job families-> Download CSV
-
Fill out the CSV with the related survey data per band, see example here
- Job Code
- Target Percentile - must be represented as p50 if 50th percentile or p60 if 60th percentile
- Survey Location Breakout - exactly as it’s represented in the survey, e.g. US - SF Bay Area
- Survey Breakout - if relevant, e.g. Peer Group Name, exactly as it is in the survey
- Pay Type - must be represented as “basepay” or “totalcash”
- Weight - include “1” in the csv
-
If you are associating multiple percentiles of the same or different job code to a single band:
- Copy the band row and include the secondary or tertiary market data info, with the relative weight.
- Update the weight for each additional row. You can think of weights as ratios, so if you had two benchmarks each with 1 weight, they would be weighted equally. If you wanted to weight one at 60% and the other at 40% you could add 6 and 4 or a ratio of 3 and 2.
-
If you use multiple surveys, you’ll would download the same bulk association template, and include this information for each additional survey.
You’ll also be able to easily view and edit your market data associations individually in the product.
Upload the bulk association csv
- To upload your completed bulk association csv, go to the Market Data tab on the band set to associate market data with those bands
- Select upload csv - and choose from "Add or Update Associations" and "Replace Associations" depending on your intended outcome
- Add or Updates Associations: Add new associations or update existing associations. Existing slice associations will not be deleted.
- Replace Associations: Replace all associations in the band set. All existing associations will be overridden
- Select the survey you want to bulk associate your bands to
- Note: If you use multiple surveys, you will need to upload a different association files for each band set
Edit your market data associations on your bands
In order to view or edit your market data associations, you can navigate to Benchmark View in the upper right hand corner “view.” You can filter for specific bands using the filters at the top of the page.
You can also access, view, and edit your market data associations by clicking on the Benchmarking sidepeek in Table View or clicking “Manage” to go directly to the Benchmark View of that job family and ladder.
The main actions you’ll want to take from here are:
Update your market associations
You can add many market associations to your band to create the best benchmark:
-
Choose a data source from your Pave data or third party market data
-
Filter down to a specific job code, title, family, level, country
-
Choose a percentile
-
Review the # of employees and # of countries to identify the best benchmark
-
Use the + icon to match market data to your band
Update the weights to create your composite benchmark
-
A composite benchmark is a summary of the benchmark(s) associated with the band, with or without weighting
-
You can weight multiple benchmarks together to create your composite benchmark by inputting a different weight under the weight section in benchmarking view
-
Weights will automatically show as 1
-
You can think of weights as ratios, so if you had two benchmarks each with 1 weight, they would be weighted equally. If you wanted to weight one at 60% and the other at 40% you could add 6 and 4 or a ratio of 3 and 2.
Update the visibility of different associations on the band visualization
- In table and chart view, only the composite benchmark is visible on the band visualization, not the individual market data associations.
- In benchmark view, the different market data associations and the composite benchmark are visible on the band visualization
- If you don’t want specific market data associations to impact your composite benchmark or you don’t want to see them on the band visualization (but want to reference them in the benchmarking expanded view for that band), you can toggle the visibility of the benchmark using the “eye” icon on the associated row.
- If you make the weight 0, the association will no longer impact the composite benchmark and will still be displayed on the band visualization but at a lower opacity.
- If you no longer want to use the market data association for benchmarking, you can delete it using the “X” icon on the associated row.
Download your benchmark associations
- At any point, you can download your your latest associations of your bands and market data, representative of any edits you’ve made since you’re last bulk association
- To do so, return to Band Set > Market Data Tab
- Click “Download Benchmarks” which will download a CSV
- In the CSV you will see:
- Band information
- Market data information for related to each band: Survey name (as you’ve named it in Pave), job code, break out, location, job family, job level, slice type (third party survey, Pave), currency, pay type, pay amount (benchmark value), percentile, weight, and aging factor (if aged)
- You will see separate rows for each market data slice associated to the band and separate rows for each pay type (as well as market data slices)
