[Legacy] Manage survey data sources

Upload, view, and manage survey data from compensation data providers with Data Sources. These data sources will power your benchmarks within Pave.

Create a new survey data source

To create a new survey data source:

1. Go to Market Pricing > Data Sources
2. Click Upload survey
3. Select the survey file from your computer
4. Map the relevant columns in the survey file to Pave's properties and click Next
5. Fix any errors and Save
6. Add a descriptive Survey name and choose a Survey provider

   • The value in Survey provider will be used as the column header when mapping job families, job levels, pay zones, and overrides. This value can be any string, but we recommend using a consistent naming convention for similar surveys to simplify the mapping process (e.g. Radford

     or WTW). This value has no impact on the parsing of data slices from the survey upload.

   • Optional: Use Tags for easy filtering/searching from the surveys list later (e.g. United States)

   • Optional: Use Survey effective date if you plan to age your survey data

7. Save the survey. Pave will immediately begin processing the survey data. Once complete, you will receive a notification and the data is ready for use.

Edit a survey data source

To edit a survey data source:

1. Go to Market Pricing > Data Sources
2. For the relevant data source, click on (…) > Survey details
3. Make edits to survey details and click Update
   • Warning: If Survey provider is changed, any relevant mapping values using the previous Survey provider value will be lost (assuming there are no other survey sources with the previous value). We recommend downloading your job family, level, pay zone, and overrides mappings before updating Survey provider and re-uploading after the change. After changing, the column headers in mapping will be automatically updated.

:::info Note: To update data within a data source, you must delete the data source and create a new one with the updated data.

Delete a survey data source

To delete a survey data source:

1. Go to Market Pricing > Data Sources
2. For the relevant data source, click on (…) > Delete
3. Confirm by clicking Delete in the modal
   • Note: deleting a survey data source will automatically delete the associated data slices from all benchmarks, including those on band sets.
   • Warning: If deleting a survey data source results in no remaining data sources with the same Survey provider, any relevant mapping values using the previous Survey provider value will be lost (assuming there are no other survey sources with the previous value). We recommend downloading your job family, level, pay zone, and overrides mappings before updating Survey provider and re-uploading after the change. After changing, the column headers in mapping will be automatically updated.

View a survey data source

After creating a data source, you can explore the parsed values in the Data Explorer. Clicking into any data source opens the Data Explorer. This provides a more detailed view of the processed survey data. You can also download the original data source CSV.
