Queue, edit, and stop messages
Queue, edit, and stop messages
What is this?
You do not have to wait for Pave Agent to finish an answer before you send your next message. While it works, you can:
- Queue up to five more messages. Each one sends automatically when the answer before it finishes.
- Reorder, edit, or remove queued messages before they send.
- Stop the current answer, or edit the message you just sent and send the new version instead.
Queue a message
While Pave Agent is answering, type your next message and press Enter, or select the send button. To start a new line instead, press Shift+Enter.
Queued messages appear in a tray above the chat box, labeled with how many are waiting, such as 2 Queued Messages. They send one at a time, in order, each one after the previous answer finishes.

A queued message can include anything a normal message can: attachments, @ file references, and / Skill references. See the article on referencing files and Skills in a message.
You can queue up to five messages. When the queue is full, you cannot queue another until one sends, and your typed message stays in the chat box.
Manage queued messages
Each queued message has its own controls.
- Reorder: drag a message up or down in the tray.
- Edit: select the pencil icon. The message moves back into the chat box with Editing message above it. Make your changes and press Enter to put it back in the queue in the same place. To keep the original, select Cancel or press Escape. Nothing in the queue sends while you are editing.
- Remove: hover over the message and select the X icon.
To hide or show the list, select the arrow next to the tray's label.
Stop an answer
While Pave Agent is answering, a Stop button appears in the chat box, next to the send button. Select it to end the answer.
When you stop an answer:
- The partial answer is removed and replaced with The request was cancelled.
- Your queued messages stay in the tray but do not send automatically. Select Send next in the tray when you are ready to continue.
Edit the message you just sent
If you notice a mistake right after sending, press the Up arrow in an empty chat box to bring your last message back into the chat box.
If Pave Agent is still answering it, you see Editing message. Sending stops the current answer. When you send the edited version, Pave Agent stops the current answer, removes your original message and its answer from the conversation, and answers the edited message first. To keep the original, select Cancel.
If Pave Agent cannot confirm that it stopped the current answer in time, you see Cancellation could not be confirmed. Your edit will send after the current response. Your edited message then waits at the front of the queue.
Things to know
The queue pauses after a problem. If an answer fails, times out, loses its connection, or is stopped, queued messages wait instead of sending. Select Send next to continue.
Queued messages are not saved. They exist only in the open browser tab. If you reload or close the page, your browser asks you to confirm before leaving. Starting a new chat or opening another conversation clears the queue without asking.
New Chat and your conversation history are unavailable while Pave Agent is answering. Stop the answer first if you want to switch conversations.
A stopped answer is removed. The partial answer is not kept in the conversation. Ask again if you change your mind. In rare cases, Pave Agent cannot stop an answer in time, and the finished answer can still appear in your history later.
