# Saved Views

## What are saved views?

A saved view is a named snapshot of how you've set up a Market Pricing grid. Instead of rebuilding the same filters, sort, and columns every time you open a band set, you save them once and reapply them in one click.

A saved view captures:

* **Filters:** every filter you've applied, including quick filters
* **Sort:** the columns you've sorted by and the direction of each
* **Columns:** which columns and pay types are visible, their order, their width, and which are pinned
* **Currency:** whether values show in your company currency or in local currency

Saved views don't capture the search box, the page you were on, or the **View by** setting (Ladder or Grades).

There are two kinds of views:

* **My views:** personal views only you can see. Use these for your own recurring workflows, like the set of job families you're responsible for.
* **Company views:** views a band admin creates for everyone who has access to the band set. Use these to give the whole team a consistent starting point.

## Where saved views are available

Saved views are available on the **Bands** and **Benchmarking** tabs of a band set.

* **Bands:** the Ladder view, the Grades view, and grade details pages share one list of views.
* **Benchmarking:** has its own separate list of views.

Views belong to a single band set. A view you save in one band set doesn't appear in other band sets.

## Create a view

1. Open a band set and go to the **Bands** or **Benchmarking** tab.
2. Set up the grid the way you want it: apply filters, sort columns, show, hide, or reorder columns, and choose a currency.
3. Select **Save to new view** next to the **Views** dropdown in the control bar.
4. Enter a **Name** for the view. Names must be unique within the list of views you can see.
5. If you're a band admin, choose whether to share the view:

   * Select **Save as company view** to make the view available to everyone with access to this band set. Other band admins can edit it.
   * Select **Set as default** to apply this view automatically when people open the grid. This option is only available for company views.
6. If you save without selecting company view or default, it will be a **personal view**, only visible to you.
7. Select **Save**.

The new view is applied right away, and its name replaces **Views** in the dropdown.

You can't change a view's type after you create it. To turn a personal view into a company view, apply it, select **Duplicate** from its **⋮** menu, and select **Save as company view** before saving the copy.

## Apply a view

1. Select the **Views** dropdown in the control bar.
2. Search for a view by name, or browse the **Company views** and **My views** sections. A star marks the company default.
3. Select a view.

The grid updates to the view's filters, sort, columns, and currency, and returns to the first page.

## Update a view

When you change the grid after applying a view, a blue dot appears on the dropdown to show that you have unsaved changes. Three options appear next to it:

* **Save changes:** overwrites the selected view with your current setup. This option only appears for views you can edit.
* **Save to new view:** saves your current setup as a new view and leaves the original unchanged.
* **Reset:** discards your changes and returns to the selected view's saved setup.

## Manage views

Select the **⋮** menu next to a view in the dropdown to manage it:

* **Rename:** changes the view's name.
* **Duplicate:** creates a copy named "\[view name] copy". The copy saves whatever is on your screen right now, so apply the view you want to copy before duplicating it.
* **Set as default** or **Remove as default:** makes a company view the one applied automatically when people open the grid. Band admins only.
* **Delete:** permanently deletes the view. Deleting a company view removes it for everyone at your company.

To clear your current view and start fresh, select **Start new view** at the bottom of the dropdown. This resets filters, sort, and columns to the grid's defaults. It doesn't save anything. If you have unsaved changes, Pave asks you to confirm before discarding them.

## Who can do what

Personal views are private. No one else can see, edit, or delete them, including band admins. Any band admin can edit or delete any company view, not only the ones they created.

## What happens when you open a band set

When you return to a grid, Pave reselects the last view you used in that band set, as long as the grid still matches it. Pave remembers this per browser.

If you haven't picked a view, the company default is applied, but only if you haven't already changed the grid. If you open a link that includes filters, the link's filters take priority and no view is selected.

## Things to know

* **Views that filter on hidden columns stay personal.** If a view filters on a column that's hidden from non-band admins, you can only save it as a personal view. **Save as company view** and **Save changes** on a company view are turned off until you remove that filter.
* **Filters that no longer apply are dropped.** If a view filters on a field or pay type the band set no longer uses, Pave skips that filter when you apply the view.
* **Duplicating a band set copies its views.** Both company and personal views carry over to the new band set. The company default setting doesn't carry over.
* **Changes to views appear in the audit log.** The band set audit log records when company views are created or deleted, when any view is updated, and when a company default is set or removed.

## Frequently asked questions

**Can I use saved views to split work across my team?** Yes. Each person can save a personal view filtered to the jobs, job families, or pay zones they own, or a band admin can create a company view for each workstream.

**Why can't I see "Save changes" on a company view?** Only band admins can save changes to company views. Select **Save to new view** to save your changes as a personal view instead.

**Can I share a personal view with a teammate?** Not directly. Personal views are only visible to you. A band admin can recreate it as a company view, or you can send a link that includes your filters.
