Understand US location tiers
Market Data groups US locations into three tiers based on cost of labor. Tiers let you compare compensation across cities with similar pay levels, so you can benchmark roles without selecting each metro individually.
Tiers are based on cost of labor, not cost of living. For example, San Francisco, New York City, and Seattle are all in Tier 1 because the cost of labor is similar across these cities, even though cost of living varies.
Location tiers
- Tier 1: SF/Bay Area, NYC, Seattle
- Tier 2: Austin, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Portland, San Diego, Washington DC
- Tier 3: All other US metros
There is also a US - All option, which blends data from all US locations across all tiers. This is the default location when you open Market Data.
Location tiers and Market Data Pro
All Market Data users have access to US - All and one additional location selected by their organization. Access to individual tiers, metros, and international locations requires Market Data Pro.
