Configure cycle settings

3min read

Share

This page controls the core identity, timeline, status, and access settings for your comp cycle. Changes on this page are not saved automatically. Use the Save button in the top-right corner. The button is only active when you have unsaved changes.

An Audit log button (also in the top-right) opens a drawer showing a history of all changes made to cycle settings.

Cycle name

The name shown to all planners who have permission to view this cycle. Required. The form will not save without it.

Cycle status

Controls what planners can see and do within the cycle. Required.

  • Inactive: Hidden from planners entirely. Use this while you are still configuring the cycle before it goes live.
  • Active: Visible to planners. They can open worksheets and submit changes. Switching a cycle to Active requires a manual refresh of your integration data afterward.
  • Finalized: Read-only for planners. Use this once planning is complete. Finalizing a cycle also enables reward letter distribution.

Start date

The official start of the cycle, displayed to planners in the cycle header. This date drives three calculations:

  • Employee tenure
  • Salary proration for partial-year employees
  • The projected next vesting year for new equity grants

Required. The start date must be before the end date. The form will show a validation error if it is not.

End date

Sets the cycle close date. Planners see a "days remaining" countdown in the cycle header based on this date. Required.

Bands

A shortcut that opens Market Pricing, where you configure the compensation bands used as reference ranges in the planner worksheet. Bands are configured separately in Market Pricing and are not managed on this page.

Cycle permissions

By default, all planner roles can view this cycle. Enabling this toggle restricts visibility to specific roles you select.

When you enable the toggle, the Admin role is automatically added and cannot be removed. The form will show an error if you attempt to save without Admin included. You can add any additional planner roles alongside Admin.

Disabling the toggle clears the role list and restores access for all planner roles.

View self

Add employees here to give them read-only access to view their own record in the planner worksheet. Use the search field to find employees by name or email, then select them to add. Employees added here can only see themselves and do not get full planner access.

Reset cycle

Clears all planner inputs and worksheet progress, then recalculates column values from the original source data. Your cycle configuration, uploaded data, budgets, columns, and recommendation logic are not affected.

This action cannot be undone.

When you click Reset, a confirmation modal appears. You must type the exact name of the cycle to proceed. The modal also includes an optional checkbox: Also delete this cycle's approval chains. Checking this clears all approval chains and worksheets, which will need to be regenerated before starting your cycle.

The Reset button is disabled and shows a tooltip ("This cycle is finalized. You can no longer reset it.") when the cycle status is Finalized.

Cycle integration data (beta, visible only to users with snapshot edit permissions)

This section manages the integration data snapshot for your cycle. A snapshot locks a point-in-time copy of your HRIS and equity data into the cycle so that planner worksheets reflect consistent data throughout the planning period.

The section displays:

  • The current snapshot status and the timestamp of the last snapshot
  • A View history link that opens a snapshot audit log drawer
  • All connected HRIS and equity integrations, with employee counts (for HRIS) or grant match percentages (for equity)

The Snapshot button opens a drawer where you choose a snapshot type:

Read more about cycle snapshotting here

  • Full snapshot: Snapshots all of your HRIS and equity management system (EMS) data.
  • Partial snapshot: Snapshots a specific subset of HRIS data. When selected, you choose one of two sub-options:
    • Update specific employees and fields: Select individual employees and the specific HRIS fields to update.
    • Update management chains for all employees: Refreshes manager relationships for all employees, which determines access for users with bypass approvals permissions. Approval chains are not changed but can be regenerated separately in the approval chains tab.

The Snapshot button is only enabled when the cycle is in a "Frozen" state. If the cycle is not frozen, the button is disabled with the tooltip "Cycle must be frozen to snapshot." If a snapshot or revert job is already running, the button is also disabled.
