# Connect Carta

Carta is an equity management integration that syncs grant data to Pave via manual file upload. You download two reports from Carta, then upload them in Pave.

## Before you connect

* You need **admin access** in Carta to run reports.

## Connect Carta to Pave


1. Log in to Carta as an admin.
2. Generate the Securities Ledger report: go to **Cap Table > Run reports > Cap Table**, select **Securities ledger by type and class**, answer **No** to draft securities, and click **Export to Excel**.
3. Generate the Vesting Details report: go to **Cap Table > Run reports > Vesting Details**, keep the default settings, and click **Export to Excel**.
4. Copy your financing history: go to **Essentials > View Cap Table > View Financing History**, highlight the entire table, and copy it to your clipboard.
5. Download both reports from the **Downloads** menu (top right of Carta).
6. In Pave, go to **Connections** and find Carta. Select **Manual upload**.
7. Paste the financing history into the text box.
8. Upload both report files (the Securities Ledger and Vesting Details), then click **Upload**.

## Troubleshooting

**No data appears after upload** Both uploaded files must be in Excel format (.xls or .xlsx). File names must contain "ledger" for the Securities Ledger and "vesting" for the Vesting Details report. If either file is empty or uses a different format, the upload will fail.
