Bands Viewer Permissions:
Bands Viewer access can be determined by selecting exact or relative bands permissions. In order to utilize relative permissions, <Own Value> and <Value of Direct Reports> are available to be selected in the custom “Band Viewer” Permissions.
Relative Permission Selections
The below relative permission choices are values derived by a band viewer’s and their direct report’s current matching to bands within the live band set. This means that changes to live band set could impact the visibility an individual has to a particular set of bands.
- <Own Value> refers to a function, ladder, and ladder rank for a band viewer’s own band.
- <Value of Direct Reports> refers to the functions, ladders, and ladder ranks for a band viewer’s direct reports.
By creating custom band permissions off of these relative values, an admin can permission selective and granular bands access for each manager without significant time invested.
Most frequent use cases of relative permissions:
Below are examples of the configurations most frequently employed by customers to give their managers selective access to the relevant bands.
- View all ladders that contain a direct report, excluding my own ladder
- This configuration is common as it allows viewers to see the the potential job trajectory for their reports while also limiting their visibility to their own information
- View entire ladders for all ladders that contain a direct report and see my own ladder for all ladder ranks beneath my own
- This configuration is common as it allows viewers to see the the potential job trajectory for their reports while have visibility into their own ladder but not their band.
- This is frequently used for managers of manager who may need to view bands within their own ladder
- View entire ladders for all ladders that contain a direct report and see my own ladder for all ladder ranks beneath my own if I have a report in my ladder
- This configuration is common as it allows band viewers to see the potential job trajectory for their reports but gates access to their own ladder if they have a report in their ladder.
