What is Pave Agent?
Pave Agent is a compensation analyst you work with in conversation. Ask it a question in plain language and it answers using your company's compensation data in Pave and Pave's market data, returning tables and analysis rather than a report you have to configure.
It is built for the work compensation teams already do: pricing roles, benchmarking teams, evaluating offers, and modeling what a change would cost.
Where to find it
Log in to app.pave.com and select Pave Agent in the left sidebar.
Ask your first question
When you open a new conversation you see How can I help you today? and three suggestions:
- Price a new job
- Run a competitive analysis
- Evaluate an offer

Select one to get started, or type your own question. You do not need to phrase it in any particular way, and you can keep going in follow-ups rather than packing everything into one question.
For a fuller set of questions worth trying, see the article on what you can use Pave Agent for.
What it can do
In a conversation you can:
- Ask questions of your company's compensation data and Pave market data, and get tables and written analysis back.
- Upload files for it to work from, either to a library that persists or attached to a single message.
- Download results as data files when an answer is too large to read in the conversation.
- Shape how it works through Context, where your Guidance and Skills live.
See the articles on what data Pave Agent can see and on uploading files and exporting results.
Pick up where you left off
Select the clock icon in the chat header to see your past conversations, grouped into Today, Last 30 Days, and Older. You can search them by name. The control is unavailable until you have had at least one conversation.
Opening one brings back the full conversation, so you can reread an analysis or carry on from it. New Chat starts a fresh conversation and leaves your history untouched.
Tell it when an answer is wrong
Each completed response has a thumbs up and a thumbs down control. Selecting either one opens a box where you can explain what was good or what was wrong. The explanation is optional, but the box always opens, so feedback takes two steps rather than one.
You can change a rating from positive to negative or the other way round. You cannot remove a rating once you have given one.
A response that failed shows a Retry control instead of the rating controls.
Things to know
Pave Agent does not change your compensation data. It cannot save a range into Market Pricing, edit a pay band, change a merit cycle, or update an employee record. If you want to act on an answer, make the change in Pave yourself. This is the most common surprise for new users, so it is worth knowing up front.
Answers depend on what is loaded in Pave. See the article on what data Pave Agent can see.
Set up your Guidance early. Writing down your positioning, your metrics, and your rules once stops you restating them in every conversation. See the article on setting up Guidance.
Access is limited today. Pave Agent is not yet available to everyone at your company. See the article on who can use Pave Agent.
