Pave provides insight into the 10th, 25th, 50th, 75th and 90th percentiles per role.
The percentiles represent the compensation that falls at the corresponding rank within the corresponding data set. For instance, the 50th percentile for base salary represents the middle record base salary record.
Sample Size and Percentiles
To ensure anonymity, no data will be displayed if the filters applied to the benchmarking data return fewer than 3 entries. If the filters applied return 3 entries, they will appear as the 25th, 50th and 75th percentiles. The 10th and 90th percentiles will be empty, since there are only 3 compensation records.
If the filters applied return 4 entries, they will appear as the 25th, 50th, 75th, and 90th percentiles. The 10th percentile will be empty.
Note that the individual compensation components -- base, variable, total equity, annual equity -- are all independent of each other. The 50th percentile associated with the base salary does not necessarily correspond with the 50th percentile of variable pay, or total salary.
Similarly, the 50th percentile of total equity does not correspond with the same record as the 50th percentile of annual equity. Simply put, adding the 50th percentile for cash and equity components will not result in the 50th percentile for total compensation. The percentiles for each compensation component are evaluated independently of each other.
